K-5 Reading Center
Capital's School of Education sponsors remedial reading tutoring sessions for students who are struggling in the reading process in grades kindergarten through 5 at the Reading Center. These sessions are conducted by upper-level Capital students who are majoring in education under the skillful leadership and supervision of an on-site professor. The Reading Center started in 1976 and was funded by the Martha Holden Jennings Foundation. In its 40+ year existence, the Reading Center has served over 2,000 students.
What We Do
Our reading tutors can help your child with:
- Assessment skills

- Communication skills
Tutors do not work on homework assignments. The skills provided will assist tutees to complete their homework independently.
A Whole Semester for $100
We offer a one-to-one tutoring environment that meets for one hour for two late afternoons a week for ten weeks each semester.
We also offer tutoring that meets one hour for three days a week over a four-week summer school for $75.00. (Sibling discount not available during Summer sessions.)
We offer a sibling discount, so parents can reduce their fee for two children by $25.
