Accounting majors participate in a yearlong simulation known as BAM, Business Activity Module .This intensive simulation forces them to apply everything they know, and learn some things they don’t know, as they correct the mess left by a hypothetical, incompetent accountant. The simulation ends with a presentation to the board, including Capital alumni. Additionally, almost all Accounting majors participate in a highly regarded internship program designed to have students working full time in January and February of their senior year. Students earn dollars, credits and invaluable experiences. Internships often result in full time opportunities.
Capital’s Accounting major combines a broad business education with specialized competency in accounting. High-impact practices, like internships, capstone projects and undergraduate research give Accounting majors the opportunity to expand their knowledge past the traditional classroom setting. Faculty teach students what they need to know for their next exam, but they don’t stop there. Students are taught what they need to know for their next class, their next job, their next degree, and even their next career move.
Capital’s School of Management and Leadership (SOML) is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP). Founded in 1988, the ACBSP is a global business education accrediting body and ignites a standard of excellence with an accreditation process based on Baldrige Education Criteria for Performance Excellence. By evaluating aspects of leadership, strategic planning, relationships with stakeholders, quality of academic programs, faculty credentials, and educational support, ACBSP assesses whether or not business programs offer a rigorous educational experience and commitment to continuous quality improvement.

“Columbus is a great location for young professionals. It is one of the fastest growing cities in the country, and there is a constant search for new talent. Capital prepares graduates to compete at the highest levels. An internship is included as part of your senior year and this is unique to Capital. This experience is possible because of the number of accounting firms that do business in Columbus.”
